FHC Mission Statement: Ethics and Sustainability
Farzaneh H. Christensen believes that fashion should represent good causes and promote positive messages. Therefore, sustainability and ethics are at the base of our brand.
The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry globally. It is responsible for ten percent of the carbon footprint of the world and is the second greatest polluter of local freshwater. Some of the main factors that contribute to this pollution are the overproduction of fashion items, the use of synthetic fibres and the growing of fashion crops. What is more, the fashion industry accounts for more than third of microplastics polluting the ocean.
We believe this can be done differently.
Farzaneh H. Christensen challenges this industry and pushes boundaries to craft sustainable luxury garments, under ethical procedures. The FHC brand never compromises on ethics and quality. FHC designs and manufactures everything in London. All of our materials are sourced throughout Europe, with Italy and France being our greatest sourcing countries. We are advocates of change.
At FHC, we always ensure our manufacturing is plastic-free and leave the smallest carbon footprint possible. We use high-quality fabrics, such as taffeta, dentelle, pure chiffon silk, organic cotton and silk organza. We believe in honouring our green planet and the people’s lives we touch, whilst delivering luxury garments to the highest standards. Our supply chain is of high significance to us. Quality, fair trade and environmental practices are the trademarks of our brand. We are fully aware that it is our primary duty to protect our planet.
The future of fashion depends on us.
Each decision we make reflects our mission to elevate the world of luxury fashion and eliminate the issues this industry causes. Our designer Farzaneh has made a strong commitment to the environment. We are delighted to announce that Farzaneh is in the process of setting up her own charity, Farzaneh Green Planet, which aims to improve climate-change. The charity will specifically focus on the oceans’ welfare and pollution. With the impact of the fashion industry, it is now more important than ever to protect our oceans. More details about the charity will be revealed in due course.
About Our Designer
‘I design for women who want to be attractive,
feminine, and special.’
Drawing on her Eastern roots and Western career, Farzaneh H Christensen designs cocktail and evening wear that mixes exotic lavishness with elegant professionalism. Her creations are unparalleled in their intricate details, stunning hand embellishments, and finest quality fabrics—each of them is a work of art, beautifully designed and perfectly tailored.
Fashion was an important part of Farzaneh’s life from an early age. She spent her childhood in her mother’s—a famous Iranian fashion designer’s—workshop, playing with fabrics, learning important skills, and observing her mother and the team of seamstresses at work. This planted a desire to discover more about the industry. Her move to Paris at the age of 25, work experience at Yves Saint Laurent, and finally MA at London College of Fashion, were all building blocks for the FHCHRISTENSEN brand.
Farzaneh presented her first collection at a private fashion show in October 2001 at the Dorchester Hotel, and since then the brand has been growing. ‘After nearly 20 years, we are like a family’, says Farzaneh of her team, and the same could be said of her dedicated clients—women whose search for one-of-a-kind pieces and personal approach constantly brings them back to Farzaneh’s studio.
